What do you do when a hot prospect suddenly grows cold? You’ve done the work to start the conversation and get the ball rolling and then…crickets.
Here’s a sweet and simple secret to re-engaging those cold leads. I call it “The One Line Email”.
What’s so great about this little email is that it’s easily adaptable to all types of markets. And it’s since it’s only one line, it’s super quick to implement. (can I get an amen?!)
The purpose of this email is to “call out” a prospect that indicated interest in your services and get them to re-engage and take action.
So what is this crazy one line email? Tell me already!
Okay, okay…here it is. Again, it’s incredibly simple: “Are you still interested in…”
Yep, that’s it. Obviously you will need to fill in the rest of the statement… “Are you still interested in….getting back in shape? … a new website? …a new insurance plan?”
Here’s how it looks in an email:
That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Simply put the name of the prospect in the email subject line and then employ the sneaky power of the one line revival template.
Warning: Avoid adding anything else or fluffing it up. Keep it direct and to the point.
Why The One-Line Email Works
Why is this so effective and powerful? A few reasons, really.
First, the vast majority of people aren’t ready to buy when they first inquire about your services. Studies have shown that it generally takes months (sometimes up to 6, 12, 18 months) for people to actually pull the trigger and whip out their credit card.
So when you reach out to those leads that contacted you several weeks, even months ago, they may now actually be in a position to move forward with your products or services.
Second, it forces the prospect to address the situation. And because of the simple, right-to-the-point format of the email, it demands a response. This is a good thing! Even if they reply back and tell you that they went with someone else or are no longer looking then at least you can close their file now and not have to wonder if there is still a possibility with them.
Third, it demonstrates your credibility and professionalism by following up and wanting to tie up all of your loose ends.
I have personally used this template on dozens of “dead” leads and even on past clients that were interested in various products & services. (I just used this again two days ago and am back on track with the prospect)
It’s always amazing to me how many people respond positively. And these were people that I had all but written off as ‘no longer interested.’ (many of which actually thanked me for following up with them- whaaaaat?)
So if you have old leads that you never heard back from or that never become clients…or clients that have shown interest in some of your other products/services but never went through with the purchase…then try this One Line Email template before you mark them as gone for good.
